Description
Introduced in 1962 as one of their lineup of Jeeps under licence from Willys/Jeep, the #350 Jeep Surrey was an instant hit…with girls!
Tonka had earlier dabbled in girls’ toys without much success but they hit pay dirt with this model. Inspired during an employee’s visit to Acapulco in 1961, the pink Surrey Jeep went on to become one of Tonka’s biggest sellers.
(No, Elvis had nothing to do with influencing this toy and neither did his movies “Blue Hawaii” which featured an MG or “Fun in Acapulco” which was released in 1963 and featured an actual Tonka pink Jeep toy.)
A lot of these were made and most were played with.
This toy is all original and in superb condition.
How to tell the difference between 1962 and 1963 versions: the ’62 headlights were smooth while the ’63 were faceted.
10″L x 6″H
