Description
Tonka cut their teeth with the steam shovel. First introduced in 1947, the original version was red. Sometime in late ’47 or ’48, they made an orange version.
Extremely hard to find in this condition, the toy is all original.
The cab rotates 360 degrees and the shovel is manipulated in two direction by the cranks. The string with the bead is used to open the shovel for dropping the payload.
Notice the Tonka decals…they are bigger than later toys. Both show minor damage which is common to this model. The boom decals are near complete which is usually not the case.
This toy is Tonka history and a must for any collector.
