Description
J. Chein (pronounced chain) opened for business in 1903 producing small toys for dime stores like F.W. Woolworth’s. Best remembered for spinning tops and fairground toys, the J.Chein company also made cars and trucks…large and small.
The gauge of the metal is much thinner than other toy truck makers of the time…more like tin. This is why it is so hard to find these toys in decent condition after so many years.
This bus is from the earlier Chein period and is very collectible.
