Description
Introduced in 1947, this toy, together with the steam shovel, were hugely successful and Tonka was on its way!
Initially the clam bucket was yellow but this was changed later in the year to the plated version that you see here.
Very hard to find in this condition, the toy is all original. Everything works like the day it was made…over 70 years ago!
The cab rotates 360 degrees. There are two cranks and one lever…one crank to raise the boom and one to raise and lower the bucket. The large arm is the lever and is used to open and close the bucket.
The wheels turn freely.
The decals show some loss…not unusual for these toys.
This toy is Tonka history and a must for any collector.
26″L x 8″H x 6″W
Please note that my photos are up close and detailed…be sure to enlarge. I attempt to provide an accurate representation of the toy as it truly is. If you would like a particular photo of any aspect, do not hesitate to ask.
