Description
The Toy Guidance Council voted the Suburban Pumper “Outstanding Example Of American Toy Production” in 1956. Tonka designer Charles M. Groschen used a truck used by Mound Fire Department as inspiration for Tonka’s Pumper, originally sold for $8.98 in 1956. Electrostatically painted, these toys managed to withstand the rigors of childhood play throughout the years.
The 1956 Pumper was the only model with threaded fittings for the hoses. Note that the hoses are original and extremely hard to find in this condition. The original hydrant is also included.
This toy is in superb condition.
Everything is original except for the reel hose nozzle.
This is a beautiful example of American toymanship at its finest!
