Description
The Toy Guidance Council voted the Suburban Pumper “Outstanding Example Of American Toy Production” in 1956. Tonka designer Charles M. Groschen used a truck used by Mound Fire Department as inspiration for Tonka’s Pumper.
Electrostatically painted, these toys managed to withstand the rigors of childhood play throughout the years.
There is some paint loss and the hoses are replacements. The hydrant is from 1956…note the threaded connection.
17″L x 6″W
Please note that my photos are up close and detailed…be sure to enlarge. I attempt to provide an accurate representation of the toy as it truly is. If you would like a particular photo of any aspect, do not hesitate to ask.
