For the collector, accuracy is paramount! The first point of reference should always be the Look Books.

This site has most of the information you will need to determine whether a Tonka is genuine or not.
When it comes to boxes, I see a lot of mix ‘n match when sellers will pair a toy with what they believe to be the correct box. While there were occasions when Tonka would use a box from the prior year, in most cases, the Look Books are accurate.
For example…look at the Military “Jeep” Universal. Sold for three years…1963 through 1965, the decals differ slightly by year. These decal locations should be the same as those on the box. If not…chances are that it is a mix ‘n match.
