Advertised as a “Factual Scale Model of a Popular 1949 Dump Truck”, Tonka introduced their first dump truck in 1949. And the rest as they say, is history!
The truck was based on a GMC cabover design and ran through 1953. Tonka switched to the round fender Ford design in 1954.
It is becoming more difficult to find these dump trucks in appreciable condition.
This 1953 version is in spectacular condition with minimal paint loss. Notice the name of the original owner scratched into the underside of the bed.
Next to impossible to find in this condition, this toy displays beautifully!
