Description

Tonka introduced their first military vehicle in 1963 with the Universal Jeep having come to an agreement with Willys to produce the Jeep in 1962. In Tonka’s mind, a toy that could be sold for less than $3 was a winner.

Interestingly…this toy was introduced the year before the Gulf of Tonkin…and the rest as they say, is history. But sales were good enough that Tonka continued to offer military vehicles for many years thereafter.

The number imprinted on the hood is reputed to have been Tonka’s phone number at the time.

Tonka made two versions of the military Jeep…with and without the canvas top (which is actually plastic).

Paint finish remains superb but the spare wheel and the hook that holds it are missing.

The box is complete and in excellent condition.

Please note that my photos are up close and detailed…be sure to enlarge. I attempt to provide an accurate representation of the toy as it truly is. If you would like a particular photo of any aspect, do not hesitate to ask.

Shipping is $15 ($10 each additional toy) within U.S., $65 ($20 each additional toy) to Canada. Depending on final cost, I may refund difference, if any.
I also accept Venmo, personal checks and bank/money orders. Contact me if you would wish to pay this way.
